Exploring Life & Business with Belinda Hill of Elements Ojai

Today we’d like to introduce you to Belinda Hill.

Hi Belinda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Movement has carried me through every season of my life—from the discipline of gymnastics, to the freedom of aerial arts, to the strength and groundedness I now teach.

It has always been my language. The way I’ve rebuilt, regulated, and reconnected with myself through life’s many transitions.

Elements Ojai grew from that lived experience—a space where strength is not about performance, but presence. A place where people are met as whole human beings: body, breath, mind, and nervous system.

Over the years, my work has continued to evolve. Today I coach under my own name, Belinda Hill, and serve as Director of Movement & Strength Culture at Wild Qi. While the setting has changed, the philosophy remains the same.

My work is not about pushing harder. It’s about honoring capacity, creating safety, and cultivating strength that supports real life. I believe true strength isn’t measured only by how much you can lift, but by how confidently you move through the world, how resilient you become, and how deeply you trust your own body.

My intention is simple: to help people come home to themselves. If someone leaves feeling stronger, more capable, and more connected than when they arrived, then we’ve done meaningful work together.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I wouldn’t change the path.

One of the biggest turning points came when I made the difficult decision to close my brick-and-mortar studio, Elements Ojai. There were ongoing challenges related to the shared building that ultimately made it unsustainable to continue operating there. At the time, it felt like a significant loss because I had poured so much of myself into creating that space and community.

Shortly afterward, the pandemic changed everything. Like so many in the fitness industry, I had to completely rethink what coaching looked like. I transitioned from primarily teaching aerial arts—which requires specialized equipment and tall ceilings—to focusing more deeply on strength training and personal coaching.

What began as a necessity became an unexpected gift. I built a thriving coaching business from my garage, where I discovered that meaningful transformation isn’t dependent on a beautiful studio. It’s built through trust, consistency, and genuine connection.

As my practice continued to grow, I eventually outgrew the garage. Navigating neighborhood and HOA limitations made it clear that it was time for another transition. Rather than seeing that as another setback, I chose to view it as an invitation to evolve.

Today, I serve as the Director of Movement & Strength Culture at Wild Qi, where I have the opportunity to coach, educate, and help cultivate a community that aligns deeply with my philosophy of movement, strength, and whole-person wellness.

Looking back, every challenge redirected me toward something I couldn’t have planned. Each obstacle asked me to let go of what was familiar, trust the process, and continue building from my values rather than my circumstances. Those experiences have shaped not only my business, but the coach and person I am today.

I help people build strength that supports the life they want to live.
My work blends evidence-based strength training with restorative practices, mobility, fascia-informed movement, and nervous system awareness. I believe fitness should leave people feeling more capable—not depleted—and that true strength is about far more than physical performance.
Every client is different. Some come to me because they’re recovering from injury. Others want to improve bone density, navigate midlife changes, become more athletic, or simply feel confident moving through everyday life. My role is to meet each person where they are and create a path that is both challenging and sustainable.
Today, I serve as Director of Movement & Strength Culture at Wild Qi while continuing to coach private clients under my own name, Belinda Hill. I’m also developing educational resources, writing, and programs that help people understand movement as a lifelong practice rather than a quick fix.
At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief: movement is one of the most powerful ways we can care for ourselves. When we cultivate strength with intention, it extends far beyond the gym. It changes how we age, how we recover, how we relate to stress, and ultimately how we experience our lives.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people are surprised to learn that I’m the mother of four. While many know me through movement and strength training, motherhood has been one of the biggest influences on who I am as a coach. It has taught me resilience, compassion, flexibility, and the importance of meeting people exactly where they are.
