Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Garcia.
Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Growing up, I always had a passion for beauty and business. When it came time to choose a career, I was discouraged from pursuing beauty because people told me it wasn’t a real career. Instead, I went into agricultural business since I had experience in the ag industry. After COVID, I realized I could build a successful career in beauty, so I enrolled in beauty school to earn my esthetician license. At the time, I was working in marketing for an agricultural company, and although I learned valuable business skills there, I knew my passion was elsewhere. With my husband’s encouragement, I took the risk, invested my savings into my business, and went full-time.
The beginning wasn’t easy. I reinvested almost everything I earned back into my business, but the hard work paid off. Today, I’ve been full-time for three years, an esthetician for five years, have a part-time esthetician working with me, and I have the flexibility to be present for my family while doing what I love. This journey has taught me that taking calculated risks, working hard, and trusting the process can lead to incredible opportunities.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges was balancing everything while building my business. I was working full-time in agriculture, attending college, and raising my family, so finding time to grow my beauty business wasn’t easy. Since I could only work limited hours, building a steady clientele took time. I was also the first person in my family to own a business, so I didn’t have anyone to guide me through the business side. I had to learn everything on my own through experience. Once I made the decision to go full-time, my business really began to grow. My clientele increased, and from that point on, I never looked back. Those challenges taught me resilience, time management, and the importance of believing in myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At our spa, we offer a wide variety of beauty and wellness services, but we specialize in advanced skincare treatments, Brazilian waxing, and skin lightening services, which aren’t widely available in Monterey County. We stay up to date with the latest beauty trends so our clients have access to innovative treatments. Our goal is to help every client feel confident and beautiful, whether they’re coming in for self-care, wellness, or a beauty service.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband and my kids have been my biggest motivation throughout this journey. My husband has been my number one supporter—he believed in me from day one, encouraged me to take the leap, and helped me invest in my business. My children are the reason I continue to grow and push myself every day. I wanted to build something that would not only fulfill my passion but also create a better future for my family.
