Today we’d like to introduce you to Cara Behan.
Hi Cara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I found my way to working as a therapist through the body and through the practice of yoga. I have always been a seeker of experiences and have continued to train in psychedelic therapy. The healing potential with psychedelic medicine is profound and I am excited by the possibility of legalization in the future. I currently lead somatic psychedelic preparation and integration sessions.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It can be challenging to sit with client’s emotions all day and to see the pain and suffering in our world. I am inspired by the power of the human spirit, by our own resiliency and by the courage it takes to face one’s traumas and move through them, like the ocean moves waves. We must cultivate a greater world of compassion and equanimity for every living being on this planet.
We’ve been impressed with Cara Behan LMFT , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am moving into more intentional psychedelic work. I have completed training in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy and currently lead KAP prep and integration sessions, have trained in MAPS MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy Training and am currently pursuing licensure as a Natural Medicine facilitator in Colorado under Fluence’s Psilocybin-Assisted Psychotherapy Training.
Learning how to prepare the body for a psychedelic experience and building coping skills to use somatically for when one is in a non-ordinary state of consciousness is key. This is how one can feel safe and get the greatest meaning out of a psychedelic journey, by allowing their body and mind to surrender, fall in and trust what is revealed. Preparation is key. Us humans like to skip that part 😉
What were you like growing up?
I have always sought out the hot springs, the healers, the peak experiences that bring us closer to one another. You could find me at open mics, playing with my band, or swimming down by the river as a kid.
