Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Consolo.
Hi Danielle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a creative household. My mom is an artist, and some of my favorite memories are watching her find beautiful, resourceful ways to decorate our home. She encouraged my creativity from an early age, even letting me design my own bedroom, which sparked a lifelong love of interior design.
After my second child was born, I chose to stay home full-time with my children. While I loved being a mom, I also found myself longing for a creative outlet and a sense of purpose outside of motherhood. We were on a tight budget, but I was determined to create a home that felt warm, beautiful, and uniquely ours.
I began hunting for furniture, artwork, and décor at thrift stores and on Craigslist, teaching myself how to refinish and repurpose secondhand pieces. What started as a way to stretch our budget quickly became a passion. I began refinishing furniture for friends and family, then selling pieces online. Along the way, I discovered that I loved not only restoring furniture but also styling spaces and helping people see the potential in what they already had.
As my confidence and experience grew, I started designing homes for friends and family. After years of helping others transform their spaces, I decided to take the leap and officially launch my own interior design business. Today, I love creating homes that feel beautiful, personal, and attainable while proving that great design doesn’t always require buying everything new.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, I’ve had to learn how to balance my passion with the realities of running a business. My family has always been my top priority, so there have been seasons when my business has had to take a back seat. Finding a healthy balance between work and home is something I’m still continually learning.
Another challenge has been wearing so many different hats. I was drawn to this career because I genuinely love interior design and helping people create homes they love. But owning a business means you’re also responsible for marketing, bookkeeping, and countless other tasks. Those aren’t the parts that naturally energize me, but they’ve pushed me to grow in ways I never expected.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creating timeless, approachable interiors that feel personal, functional, and attainable. While many designers focus on projects with large renovation or furnishing budgets, my passion is helping people create beautiful homes at every price point.
That perspective comes from my own experience. When my husband and I were starting out, we didn’t have a large budget, so I learned to shop thrift stores, estate sales, and online marketplaces, refinishing furniture and finding creative ways to make our home feel special. It taught me that great design isn’t about how much you spend—it’s about creativity, resourcefulness, and thoughtful choices.
What I’m most proud of is making interior design feel accessible. I love helping clients see the potential in their homes and proving that beautiful, intentional spaces don’t have to come with a luxury price tag. I think what sets me apart is that I don’t see budget as a limitation—I see it as an opportunity to be creative.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me are my faith and my family. My relationship with God is my foundation, and His love shapes the way I strive to live, serve, and care for others. I hope my life reflects that love in both my personal relationships and my work.
I also believe our homes have the power to bring people together. More than creating beautiful spaces, my goal is to design homes that encourage connection, hospitality, and lasting memories. If my work helps a family slow down, gather around the table more often, or simply enjoy being together, then I feel I’ve accomplished something meaningful.
