Rising Stars: Meet Brooke Gardner of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Gardner.

Hi Brooke, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Brunch 8 years ago after a glass of wine with some girlfriends and joking about how fun it would be to go to a spot that serves only Brunch all day long. What started as an evening of laughs and ideas soon grew into asking myself if I could really open a spot that served fun off the wall menu ideas of Brunch all day long.
Then the fun part started of what fun menu items we could come up with.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Owning a business is never a smooth road. I did have help form friends and family that made the journey a bit easier and enjoyable. The start up was pretty smooth, then Covid hit. But by that point it was a matter of what do we do to stay open and take care of my employees. We made it through and have been staying the strong the past few years. The most difficult part of owning a business is the constant fluctuation with staff, food costs, unforeseen circumstances that arise. But my motto now is ” If I can get through a pandemic, I really can get through anything” It does take a village and I have had a greta on around me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I think Brunch really stands out for it being an experience not just a meal. We host a lot of Bridal Shower groups, Bacherlotte parties and larger gatherings. We are a place where customers gather to catch up, have a mimosa of the month, laugh and enjoy their morning together. We really focus on the customer experience.

What makes you happy?
I love interacting with my customers. I love finding out where they are form, what they aer doing in town and just connecting with them. My daughter has also started working for me and that is so special and so fun. It is wild to see her running around, interacting with customers and getting to spend half the day with her.
I do love to travel with y husband as well. We have had several amazing trips the last several years and we are looking to to add more.
