Today we’d like to introduce you to Merylin Ramirez.
Hi Merylin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey has been shaped by a lot of hard work, learning, and the willingness to keep going even when I didn’t have everything figured out. I started my career in administrative and customer service roles, and over time, I found my way into the legal field. I have now worked as a family law paralegal for several years, helping people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. That experience has taught me a lot about compassion, resilience, and the importance of being there for people when they need support.
At the same time, I have always had a passion for beauty. Makeup and hair started as something I genuinely loved, and eventually I decided to take that passion more seriously. I began building my business as a makeup artist and hairstylist, working with clients for weddings, quinceañeras, special events, and photoshoots. Little by little, I started creating more content and sharing my work online.
Today, I am building a life that combines the different parts of who I am. I work in the legal field, run my beauty business, and am working toward becoming a beauty content creator and influencer. My journey has not been perfectly planned, but every experience has helped shape me into the person I am today. I am still growing, learning, and figuring things out, but I have learned that you do not have to choose only one path. You can continue growing into new versions of yourself while still honoring where you started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I faced was growing up without immigration status and having limited opportunities because of it. I also had to learn English at the age of 11, which was difficult while trying to adapt to a new language and environment.
For a long time, I had to work harder to find opportunities and create a path for myself. Once I obtained immigration status, more doors began to open for me. I was able to access opportunities that had previously felt out of reach, and that allowed me to continue building my career and pursuing my goals.
Even after that, I still had to overcome self-doubt and learn how to balance different parts of my life. I work in the legal field, run my beauty business, create content, and continue to grow personally and professionally. There have been times when I questioned myself or felt like I was starting over.
Looking back, the obstacles I faced have shaped the way I see opportunities today. My journey has taught me to appreciate every opportunity I receive and to keep going even when the path is difficult. I am proud of how far I have come because I know how much work it took to get here. My story is still being written, and I am excited about the person I am continuing to become.

My business is Merylin MUA, a beauty brand focused on makeup, hairstyling, and beauty content. I specialize in creating looks for weddings, quinceañeras, special events, photoshoots, and anyone who wants to feel confident and beautiful for an important moment in their life.
What sets my business apart is the personal experience I try to create for every client. Beauty services can be very personal, especially when someone is preparing for a wedding, quinceañera, or another meaningful event. I want my clients to feel comfortable, heard, and confident that they can trust me with their vision. I take the time to understand what they want while also using my experience to help create a look that feels like them.
I am also growing Merylin MUA into more than a service-based business. I am building a beauty brand and creating content around makeup, hair, skincare, nails, and beauty in general. I want people to be able to connect with me beyond the chair and feel inspired to try new things for themselves.
What I am most proud of brand-wise is that I have built this business from a genuine passion for beauty while continuing to grow and learn along the way. I did not start with everything figured out or with a large team behind me. I started with a passion, a willingness to learn, and the desire to create something of my own.
I want readers to know that Merylin MUA is about helping people feel confident in their own beauty. Whether someone is getting ready for the most important day of their life or simply wants to feel a little more like themselves, I want the experience to feel personal and special. My goal is to continue growing the brand into a space where beauty, creativity, and authenticity come together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think luck has played a role in my life, but I also believe luck often meets you when you are willing to work for an opportunity. Some opportunities came into my life at the right time, and I am grateful for those moments. At the same time, I have had to work hard to create opportunities for myself, especially because I faced limitations early in my life due to my immigration status and having to learn English at a young age.
In business, I have been fortunate to meet people who trusted me with important moments in their lives, such as weddings, quinceañeras, and special events. Every client, referral, and opportunity has helped me grow. I also believe that some of the difficult moments in my life ended up leading me toward opportunities I may not have found otherwise.
So, I would say luck has opened some doors, but hard work, persistence, and being willing to walk through those doors have brought me to where I am today. I do not take any opportunity for granted because I know how difficult it can be to get one in the first place.
