Exploring Life & Business with Anabel Dollente of Funkshway Healing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anabel Dollente.

Hi Anabel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It wasn’t until I fully started to Love myself that I completely changed the direction my life was in and gave myself permission to follow my dreams.

I grew up with many obstacles in my life. I made terrible decisions and worked a corporate job I hated for 16 years because I was in a mindset of survival and I believed I was never good enough.

It wasn’t until I started having terrible anxiety attacks. Unlike anything I have ever experienced. Where my entire body shut down. My last major attack my husband had to call the ambulance and I was saying bye to my children as if I wasn’t going to see them again.

I never knew anxiety can feel like that. When I saw my doctor the only explanation he can give me was, “You have a mental health disorder” He prescribed me several medications and that was it.

I felt like a failure especially the fact that I have spent years studying Reiki and doing the inner work.

I didn’t like the way the medication numbed me so I started seeing my Reiki Master, Mary Sotelo on a weekly basis. She mentioned to me anxiety attacks are usually your bodies way of sending you a message that something in your life isn’t aligned. She advised me to go deeper into my healing journey.

So I did! I did the inner child work, the shadow work and faced my deepest fears. I quit my corporate job and made a leap of faith to follow my dreams to open up my Holistic Wellness practice. The question I asked myself to make this leap of faith was, “If I were to die tomorrow, will I truly be happy with the life I lived?” Life is too short so I had to take my chances.

It’s been 4 years since the day I made that leap and here I am today, thriving!

I’m doing the very thing I was put on this planet to do. I had to let go of limited beliefs I had with myself and relearn everything that I have been taught. Finding gratitude in all of the good and bad life has brought my way. I’m very much in my power and I haven’t had an anxiety attack since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I’m learning everyday. Not only am I running a business but I am a mother of two preteens, a wife, a daughter, a teacher.

While business is great and the clients keep scheduling the economy still faces an economic downturn. Prices of supplies, rent, utilities have skyrocketed. So it’s very challenging staying afloat.

Energy is everything and energy transfer is real. So if my mind isn’t right I always take the time I need to ground myself and give myself time and space to move it out. Being a business owner I don’t have PTO or vacation hours.

Balance is everything. Finding my flow and remembering my WHY everyday is what keeps me going.

We’ve been impressed with Funkshway Healing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Funkshway Healing means a persons natural rhythm or instinctive beat for any given action. I help people remember their true nature. By offering intuitive massage, Reiki energy healing, sound healing, Aura photography and aura readings, retreats, Reiki certification classes.

I specialize in inner child healing and generational trauma, getting to the root cause of a persons discomfort and pain.

I believe Joy is our Birthright. I have so much love to give, I’ve seen pain, grief, shame and fear but I believe LOVE is the answer to all. My mission is to be the light to help others see that they can feel PEACE within.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that what I do is not just Reiki and massage. My great grandmother practiced Hilot in the Philippines. She was the one people would go to in our town when they were sick. My skills are a gift that have been handed down to me for my ancestors. I am Babaylon and my ancestors are very proud of the woman who I have become.
