Meet Kristen Thomas of Studio Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Thomas.

Hi Kristen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into design truly began long before I officially stepped into the industry. It first took root thirteen years ago when I started my career in real estate. From day one, I was driven by a simple philosophy to help people through a lens of intentional living. My love for others and being invited into the process of finding their home evolved into a passion for design. Friends began seeking my creative eye to transform their homes and I began to fall in love with finding clever ways to transform a space. Realizing that this was something more than just a hobby led me to take a step of faith and go to design school. I found such comfort stepping into something that was filled with such intention and purpose. Today, that philosophy has grown into the foundation of my firm, Studio Thomas. Serving clients nationwide with headquarters in Montecito and Colorado, we are a full service luxury interior design firm focused on intentional residential living and a true love of helping others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur has been both the most challenging and rewarding part of my career. While the design side of the business comes naturally, the reality of running a firm is where the obstacles have been. It’s a constant evolution of curating and implementing strong systems and processes that are rooted in purpose. As I’ve navigated these crossroads, I’ve found that strong SOPs give us the foundation to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I find myself most proud of our approach to design. Our unique lens isn’t just about creating beautiful spaces, it’s about a deeply, purposeful approach to intentional living. Our branding is integrated with our client experience with great intention. Our philosophy works for every client regardless of their location, age, or budget. We are here to help people create their own safe place to land, and that commitment drives every decision we make.

One thing that really sets our services apart is our focus on efficiency. We care deeply about creating an exceptional experience for our clients, not only in the final result but in every step of the journey. We believe the process should feel thoughtful, seamless, and intentional from beginning to end.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
A quote that has encouraged a lot of growth for me is, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” One of the most valuable things I’ve learned is that building a team and culture that truly aligns with your vision brings so much intention to your mission. When your team understands the why and believes in what you’re building, there is a shared foundation that allows everyone to grow together. Without a strong mission, there is no true foundation for meaningful growth.
