Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle Killen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Killen.

Hi Danielle , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey into fitness and wellness really began at a young age. I grew up with a background in gymnastics and equestrian vaulting—essentially gymnastics on horseback—and started coaching vaulting at a young age. I quickly discovered that I had a natural ability to lead, teach, and connect with others, and I knew I wanted to continue pursuing work that allowed me to help people grow and become stronger.

While attending San Jose State University, where I was earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology, I began training at a local kickboxing and MMA gym. I eventually became an instructor for the women’s kickboxing classes, which I absolutely loved. That experience inspired me to take my passion for teaching and fitness to the next level, so I earned my personal training certification through NASM.

In 2012, I officially started Killen Fitness, focusing on personal training for women. Since then, I’ve continued to expand my education and specialties because I believe there is always more to learn when it comes to health and wellness. I became a 200-hour Hatha yoga instructor, earned a Yin yoga certification, and became a Senior Fitness Specialist.

My own health journey has also played a major role in shaping the way I work with clients. After dealing with chronic stomach pain for years, I discovered the Primal Blueprint and decided to adopt a Paleo-style approach to nutrition and lifestyle. The changes had a profound impact on my health and ultimately inspired me to become a Certified Primal Health Coach.

Today, I bring all of those experiences together through Killen Fitness & Wellness. I work with clients not only on exercise and strength, but also on creating sustainable nutrition and lifestyle habits. What started as a passion for teaching movement has grown into a career centered around helping people feel better, become stronger, and build a healthier relationship with their bodies and their overall wellness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been pretty smooth! I’d say my biggest struggle was narrowing down my specialty and letting go of certain things.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m Danielle Killen, the founder of Killen Fitness & Wellness, where my goal is to help people feel stronger, healthier, and more confident in their everyday lives.

I’ve always believed that fitness is about much more than exercise. It’s about creating a lifestyle that supports your physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. That’s why I take a personalized approach with every client, creating customized training programs and coaching that meet people where they are and help them progress toward their individual goals.

I specialize in women’s fitness, senior fitness, pre- and post-natal fitness, and Primal health & life coaching. I’m especially passionate about helping women understand that strength and wellness can look different at every stage of life. Whether someone is just beginning their fitness journey, returning to exercise after having a baby, wanting to stay strong as they age, or simply looking to feel better in their body, I want them to know that it’s never too late to make a change.

My approach combines purposeful movement with a Primal-style approach to nutrition and healthy living. I believe our bodies thrive when we get back to the basics — moving regularly, eating nourishing whole foods, building strength, getting quality sleep, and creating sustainable habits.

Most importantly, I want my clients to realize that they are capable of more than they may think. Through movement, proper nutrition, and the right support, I truly believe that positive change is possible at any age or stage of life. My role is to guide, educate, encourage, and help each person become the strongest and healthiest version of themselves.

How do you think about luck?
I have had immense luck with a stable load of clientele. Mostly from referrals. I have created many lasting relationships with clients that have worked with me 10+ years
