Meet Adriana Magaly Velasco-Rodriguez of Central Coast (California)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Magaly Velasco-Rodriguez.

Hi Adriana Magaly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Adriana Magaly Velasco Rodríguez. I am originally from San Pablo Huixtepec, a beautiful town in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.

In 2002, when I was 15 years old, I immigrated to the United States with my mother and my two brothers to reunite with my father. I left behind my roots, my culture, and the life I had always known to begin a new chapter in Seaside, California. Adapting to a different culture and learning a new language was not easy, but I was determined to move forward.

I enrolled at Seaside High School, and although learning English was one of my greatest challenges, I graduated through hard work and perseverance. My original plan was to attend the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I applied and was accepted. However, my plans changed, and I decided to continue my education at Hartnell College.

When I turned 18, I was still completing my senior year of high school. At that time, my father, Mr. Francisco Velasco, gave me the opportunity to start a direct-sales business offering skincare and makeup products. Although I knew very little about the business and did not know many people to whom I could offer my products, I fell in love with the idea of becoming an entrepreneur.

Little by little, I began selling products to my classmates. My mother, Mrs. Catalina Rodríguez, was also an important part of my journey because she always supported me by recommending me to her friends and relatives. That was how I took my first steps into the world of business.

One of my proudest memories is being able to pay for my college classes with the money I earned from my sales after graduating from high school. It was incredibly rewarding to see that my hard work could help me continue my education. Later, I had to put my business on hold because I used all my funds to pay for college. Shortly afterward, I got married and welcomed my first child.

During that time, I cared for my son at home and attended school in the evenings. I also cared for other children so I could earn an income while staying close to him. I have always been someone who likes to make the most of her time and look for opportunities to keep moving forward.

Years later, I returned to my skincare and makeup business, this time with the goal of building a leadership career. One of the things I enjoy most about this work is meeting new people, building relationships, and watching those connections grow into beautiful friendships over time. This company has also motivated and empowered me while teaching me the discipline required to reach my goals and help other women discover how valuable and amazing they truly are.

At the same time, I worked in an after-school program, helping students with their homework at a dual-language immersion school where they learned both Spanish and English. Because I am bilingual, I was offered the position, and I was thrilled because working with children had always been one of my dreams.

While my son attended school, I also made it a priority to be involved in his education. I volunteered in his classroom once or twice a week, checking students’ homework and assisting his teacher.

In 2014, in addition to working in the after-school program, I began working in the school cafeteria. I loved that job because my days off and vacations aligned with my son’s school schedule. I was even able to bring him with me to the summer program. I was blessed with the opportunity to be a present and involved mother, and I will always thank God for that gift.

Because life is about continuing to move forward and grow, I accepted a better career opportunity in 2020 and joined a different organization. I currently work in the Nutrition Services Department at a hospital in my community. In addition to my regular responsibilities within the department, I also serve as a relief shift leader when needed.

I always tell people that we should not be afraid to learn, grow, and make decisions that can improve our lives and the lives of our loved ones. Every job and every business offers us an opportunity to grow when we are willing to work hard and make the most of it.

Today, I am the mother of three children: two who live with me and one who is in heaven. My faith and my relationship with God helped me navigate and understand that deeply painful experience. God gives me the strength to accept every season of my life and find purpose within it.

Today, I consider myself an “Unstoppable Mom.” I am expecting my fourth baby, and although balancing motherhood, my business, and a job outside the home is not always easy, I am now embracing another new title: digital content creator. I enjoy each new chapter and thank God for every blessing and opportunity He has placed along my path.

Technology continues to evolve, and thanks to social media, I now have the opportunity to earn additional income through monetization on two of my platforms. Content creation is a new form of work that I am still discovering and developing. At the same time, I am building my personal brand, “Mamá Imparable,” which represents all the hardworking, entrepreneurial, and determined mothers who may sometimes feel tired but continue standing strong and moving forward.

My message to others is this: Do not let a single day pass without making the most of it. Dare to take that first step, fill yourself with courage, and begin the business or entrepreneurial journey you have been thinking about. Perhaps you are afraid to record your first social media video or try something new. Do not wait any longer—do it today!

Every step, every challenge, and every dream has shaped the story I am proud to share today. My journey has not been perfect or easy, but it has been filled with faith, learning, perseverance, and gratitude. If my story can inspire even one person to believe in themselves and take that first step, then it will all have been worthwhile.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey has not always been smooth. One of my first major challenges was immigrating to the United States from Oaxaca, Mexico, at the age of 15. I had to leave behind my roots, my culture, and everything familiar to me while adapting to a new country and learning English. Attending high school without fully understanding the language was difficult, but through determination and hard work, I graduated and continued my education.

Another challenge has been learning how to balance motherhood, school, employment, and entrepreneurship. There were times when I had to place my business on hold to pay for college, care for my son, and focus on my family. However, I never stopped looking for ways to grow. I studied in the evenings, cared for other children from home, worked in education and nutrition services, and eventually returned to my skincare and makeup business.

The most painful experience of my life was losing one of my children. There are no words that can fully describe that kind of loss, but my faith and my relationship with God gave me the strength to continue. That experience changed me and taught me to live with greater purpose, gratitude, and compassion for others.

Even today, balancing my responsibilities as a mother, employee, entrepreneur, and digital content creator is not always easy. There are moments of exhaustion, fear, and self-doubt, but every challenge has made me stronger and more determined. I have learned that obstacles do not have to stop us; sometimes, they redirect us, teach us, and prepare us for the next opportunity.

My road has not been perfect, but every struggle has helped shape the woman I am today: a woman of faith, a mother, an immigrant, an entrepreneur, and an “Unstoppable Mom” who continues moving forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My professional life is made up of several roles that reflect who I am: a hardworking mother, an entrepreneur, a beauty consultant, a hospital employee, and a digital content creator.

I currently work in the Nutrition Services Department at a hospital in my community, where I also serve as a relief shift leader when needed. This role has helped me strengthen my leadership, teamwork, discipline, and commitment to serving others. I am proud that I have continued learning and accepting new responsibilities because I believe we should never be afraid to grow or pursue opportunities that can improve our lives and the lives of our families.

I am also an Independent Beauty Consultant specializing in skincare and makeup. My work goes beyond simply selling products. I enjoy educating women about caring for their skin, listening to their needs, helping them feel confident, and building genuine relationships with them. Some of the people I first met as customers have become wonderful friends. I am especially passionate about encouraging and empowering other women to recognize their value, discover their abilities, and believe that they are capable of reaching their goals.

More recently, I have embraced a new professional role as a digital content creator. Through social media, I share parts of my life as a mother, employee, entrepreneur, and woman of faith. I create content about beauty, family, business, everyday experiences, motivation, and my community. I am grateful to have monetized two of my social media platforms, turning something I enjoy into an additional source of income while continuing to learn about this growing industry.

I am currently building my personal brand, “Mamá Imparable,” or “Unstoppable Mom.” It represents hardworking and determined mothers who balance many responsibilities and continue moving forward even when they feel tired. Through this brand, I want women to feel seen and understood. I want them to know that they do not have to be perfect to pursue their dreams, start a business, learn something new, or create a better future for their families.

What I am most proud of is not one particular job title or accomplishment, but the fact that I have never stopped growing. I began as a 15-year-old immigrant learning a new language and later became a student, mother, caregiver, school employee, hospital employee, entrepreneur, leader, and content creator. Every role has taught me something and prepared me for the next chapter.

What sets me apart is the personal connection I bring to everything I do. I am bilingual, deeply connected to my Mexican roots, guided by my faith, and committed to serving my community. I do not present a perfect life online; I share an authentic one. I want people to see the work, faith, perseverance, and courage behind every accomplishment.

Ultimately, my work is about more than earning an income. It is about serving others, creating meaningful relationships, empowering women, supporting my family, and showing other mothers that it is never too late to take the first step toward a new dream. I want my journey to remind others that they can be mothers, professionals, entrepreneurs, and creators while remaining true to who they are.
