Today we’d like to introduce you to Janessa Vicenty.
Hi Janessa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Girls on the Go started because I wanted to create the kind of community I was searching for—a place where women could meet new friends, try new experiences, and prioritize themselves.
What began as a few local meetups has grown into a thriving community that hosts wellness, fitness, and social events while partnering with amazing local businesses and brands. Our mission has always been simple: to help women step outside their comfort zones, build genuine connections, and create memorable experiences together.
It’s been incredible to watch the community grow, and we’re excited to keep creating spaces where women can connect, grow, and have fun.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like any growing business, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a community from the ground up came with challenges, from growing an audience and earning trust to balancing partnerships, event planning, and all of the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating memorable experiences.
As a small business, we’ve worn many hats and learned a lot through trial and error. There have been moments where events didn’t go as planned, partnerships fell through, or things took longer to build than we expected. But those experiences taught us to be adaptable, creative, and resilient.
Every challenge has helped us grow, better understand our community, and create stronger experiences. Looking back, those obstacles have shaped Girls on the Go into the community it is today, and they’ve made every milestone even more rewarding.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Girls on the Go, we specialize in creating experiences that bring women together through wellness, movement, and meaningful connection. From fitness classes and networking events to social gatherings and brand collaborations, our goal is to make it easy for women to step outside their comfort zones, discover new experiences, and build genuine friendships.
What we’re most proud of is the community we’ve built. Seeing women attend an event alone and leave with new friends, new confidence, and a sense of belonging is what makes this work so rewarding.
What sets Girls on the Go apart is that we’re more than an events company—we’re building a community. Every event is intentionally designed to feel welcoming, authentic, and inclusive, creating spaces where connections happen naturally. As we’ve grown, we’ve also had the opportunity to partner with incredible local businesses and national brands, allowing us to create unique experiences while continuing to support and strengthen our local community.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that networking is all about building genuine relationships, not just collecting contacts. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself, ask questions, and follow up after meeting someone. Some of our most meaningful partnerships and opportunities have come from simple conversations and consistently showing up.
When it comes to finding a mentor, look for someone whose values and career path you admire, and don’t be afraid to reach out. Be curious, open to feedback, and willing to learn. At the same time, remember that mentorship doesn’t always come from one person—you can learn something valuable from every connection you make. The more you put yourself out there, the more opportunities you’ll create for yourself.
