Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Bruckbauer.
Hi Danny, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a multidisciplinary artist from North Dakota, currently living and creating in Los Angeles California. I work with sound and clay, separately, although maybe there’s a way to combine them in the future.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been very mentally and emotionally challenging to live in a new place, knowing very few people, surviving on art alone. I have made it through the rough patches now and things are moving upward swiftly.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I use clay and music to explore the details in the fabric of the world around me from the perspectives of my current and past selves. My work carries themes of nostalgia and childlike wonder. Trained by traditionalists carrying high attention to detail, I highlight technique and craftsmanship as much as I do imagination; pushing the limits of the medium’s capabilities, as well as my own.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My friend Nick and I would catch Monarchs every summer; running all over the neighborhood, climbing trees, and jumping fences. We always found a way to catch them.
