Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristie Crowl.
Hi Kristie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started tattooing in 2017 out of a small shop in Penryn Ca (on the outskirts of Sacramento). I’ve always loved art and had an interest in tattooing as long as I can remember. I spent a good part of my late teen years in tattoo shops and between the love of drawing and the comradery, it always felt like home. When I finally decided I was serious about the idea, I took my portfolio to shops in the area until I finally got the okay, after that I was lovingly thrown into the deep end and things quickly started rolling. I’ve been goin ever since.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say that luckily it’s been a generally smooth road, considering a few hiccups along the way. There’s always gonna be some negatives, but I’m fortunate enough to say there had always been love and support from every shop I’ve worked at even if there were some hard times sprinkled in.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Neo traditional tattooing, both color and black and grey, as well as coverups and reworks, small and large scale. I’m proud of my linework and how my saturation and blends have improved over the years as well as how my tattoos heal. I have some wonderful return clients, so I’m able to see how things settle in year by year. I think tattooers learn a lot that way.
What matters most to you? Why?
I believe what matters most at this point is the importance of my clients as people and their overall happiness/ experience, as well as being able to be trusted with my art so much so that I’m able to run with their ideas and make something they’re happy with long term.
