Today we’d like to introduce you to Yo Younger.
Hi Yo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started acting at the age of 15. Studied extensively at Richland College in Dallas, Texas, and with many private acting instructors. I was very active in the Theater/Film community in Dallas and moved to California in 2002 to pursue my dream even more.. I lived briefly in Los Angeles, but found it much easier to live in the desert. Being not so far away from LA I was still able to pursue Film and Television.
I was lucky to get some really good auditions and to perform in many independent film projects… I also performed in several plays in LA as well. I produced and starred in an independent short film in Texas and upon arriving in Palm Springs, was honored to have it chosen among thousands of entries to play on the big screen at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival. Over the past 24 years I have been very lucky and blessed to work on stage with some of the greatest theaters in the desert. I have been so honored to win 10 Desert Theater League awards for Best Actress for my performances on stage.. Among some of my personal favorite roles include “Lil” in LAST SUMMER AT BLUEFISH COVE, “Martha” in WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF, and most recently as “Jackie Kennedy Onassis” in the one woman play, JBKO, written by Tom Santopietro, and directed by Gary Powers at the Revolution Stage Company. We hope to do it again at different venues. I have been very lucky to know since the age of 15 what I wanted to do and remained passionate about it ever since. In 2018, I was honored to receive the Michael Grossman Most Inspirational Artist Award.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The life of an actress is never a smooth road.
I went through rejection, lots of commuting from LA to Palm Springs and back. All the while, trying to work to make a living at the same time.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
