Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Sharp.
Hi Melody, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I worked for magazines in Los Angeles and then, when I moved to Santa Cruz, Cabrillo College, local chambers of commerce and ultimately for a nutritional supplement company doing marketing. I quit my day job and opened my Website Design service 20 years ago, to focus on local small businesses and nonprofits. I’ve built and maintain hundreds of websites, primarily WordPress, but also using other platforms. While I often maintain sites, I also provide training so that clients can update their own sites. Over the years, my job has allowed me to work closely with clients and help them to be successful online. I find my work very rewarding.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been surprisingly lucky. I started with just a couple of clients and then, little by little, grew through referrals. The current economy has hit most of my clients and I’m seeing fewer people with the resources to build new sites. I do some Search Engine Optimization work, as well, so that skill has helped me keep busy.
As you know, we’re big fans of Santa-Cruz-Web-Design.com. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I work for my clients, along with expert colleagues, to deliver beautiful designs and websites that draw visitors that result in increased sales or donations. I’m known for being fair and very reliable. I generally complete site updates within 24 hours, usually sooner. I can finish a new site within a week or two, depending upon size and complexity. I’m only a phone call away and happy to discuss my services and rates.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I’ve lived in Santa Cruz County for most of my life. I’m here because this place makes me happy. Reading a book, spending time with friends, this makes me happy, too.
