Hi Michelle and Jahaciel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We ventured into this business opportunity after speaking with Bob’s widow about obtaining services for our pets. She informed us that, due to her husband’s passing, she was selling the business. After carefully researching the operation and evaluating the startup costs, we recognized it as an excellent opportunity—both for us and as a way to continue serving the people of Monterey County. For the past two years, we have proudly cared for Bob’s previous clients as well as many new ones, honoring his legacy while putting our own stamp on the business. We have also expanded the original range of services to better meet our clients’ needs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not always been smooth, but it has presented us with challenges that we have successfully overcome. Along the way, we have developed new skills that have enabled us to deliver an even higher quality of service to our community, meet many wonderful new people, and, of course, welcome countless adorable dogs into our lives.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are the proud owners of Coyote Scoop, a pet waste removal service dedicated to keeping Monterey County yards clean and pet-friendly. Both of us come from backgrounds as dedicated workers and previous business owners. Michelle brings strong administrative experience with a sharp focus on excellent customer service and meticulous attention to detail, while Jahaciel comes from the service industry, where he has always prioritized anticipating and meeting customers’ needs—often before they even realize them. When we discovered Coyote Scoop, we saw the perfect opportunity to combine our professional strengths with our genuine love of pets and give back to the community.
What we’re most proud of is continuing Bob’s legacy while building something of our own—serving both his longtime clients and many new ones with reliability, care, and a personal touch. What sets us apart is our commitment to going the extra mile: clear communication, consistent quality, and a genuine desire to make life easier for busy pet owners. We’re not just removing waste—we’re helping families enjoy cleaner outdoor spaces and more time with their dogs.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Starting a business is exciting, but most people naturally fear the unknown—and that’s completely normal. You can’t fully anticipate every twist and turn the path will take, and the truth is, you don’t need to have every single detail figured out before you begin. What matters most is keeping your eyes fixed on your goal and staying open to innovation along the way. Focus on solutions rather than problems, take things one step at a time, and remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Progress compounds, and the small, consistent efforts you make today will build the foundation for something lasting.
