Today we’d like to introduce you to BOB FICARRA.
Hi BOB, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always wanted to own my own business and was a big collector. In college I majored in business management. After being the youngest assistant manager in store history at the grocery store I worked at, the stars aligned with an opportunity to open my own comic and game store. 35 years later, with a lot of hard work and old school emphasis on customer service, my store- Metro Entertainment- is setting sales records in 2026!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been smooth for all 35 years. I had serious health issues that thankfully have been resolved. I’ve had to fire staff, including my store manager- for stealing and embezzlement. Frivolous lawsuits were filed, but in each case the judge scolded my opponent for wasting the courts time. Business had some lean years. Covid was difficult. But all you can do is put your head down, continue to work hard, and power through it all with the support of an amazing community!
As you know, we’re big fans of Metro Entertainment. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Metro Entertainment is a full service comic and game store, with in-store gaming sessions and lessons, as well as autograph signing and special events- over 1000 guests have done events with us, everyone from top comic artists and writers to Hollywood stars like Dwayne Johnson and Alyson Hannigan, to music star Brad Paisley! Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming, accepting, friendly environment to everyone.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Customer service. A lost art these days. Our staff won’t be on their phones ignoring you, they’ll help you find what you’re looking for and have a friendly chat.
