Hi Adiel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a San Diego-born DJ who has been passionate about music for as long as I can remember. A major turning point in my life was meeting Nipsey Hussle. That experience inspired me and helped spark the beginning of my DJ career. From there, I decided to take my love for music seriously and pursue DJing as a career.
I’ve now been DJing for 11 years, and what started as a passion has grown into a journey filled with incredible experiences. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to DJ weddings, private events, corporate events, graduations, clubs, and events across multiple states.
My style is open format, so I’m comfortable playing everything from Hip Hop and R&B to Afrobeats, Top 40, throwbacks, and more. I believe being a great DJ is about more than just playing music — it’s about reading the room, connecting with people, and creating an experience everyone can enjoy.
I’ve always loved making people happy through music. I take requests, interact with guests, and truly party with the crowd. I don’t just want to DJ at an event; I want to be part of the experience and help create memories people will remember.
Today, I’m continuing to grow as a DJ, expand my brand, and take my career to the next level. Meeting Nipsey Hussle was one of the moments that helped put me on this path, and 11 years later, my love for music and bringing people together is stronger than ever.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There have been a lot of ups and downs throughout my 11 years as a DJ. There were times when gigs were slow, opportunities didn’t work out, and I questioned whether I was on the right path. Like any career, there have been challenges, setbacks, and moments where I had to figure things out on my own.
But I always reminded myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I knew that building a career and a name in this industry would take time, consistency, and patience. No matter how difficult things got, I refused to quit.
Every setback taught me something and every opportunity helped me grow. I’m still here today because I kept pushing forward, continued improving my craft, and stayed committed to my passion for music. The journey hasn’t been perfect, but I wouldn’t trade the experience because it has made me the DJ and person I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a DJ, my job is to create an experience, not just play music. I specialize in open-format DJing, which means I can move between different genres and read the crowd to keep the energy going. I’ve DJ’d weddings, private parties, corporate events, graduations, clubs, and events in different states.
What I’m known for most is my energy. I don’t just stand behind the booth and press play — I interact with the crowd, take requests, dance, and make people feel like I’m part of the party with them. My goal is always to make sure the guests are having a great time.
What I’m most proud of is the fact that I never gave up. There have been plenty of ups and downs throughout my 11 years, but I’ve continued to show up, improve, and chase my goals. This journey has taught me that success is a marathon, not a sprint.
I believe what sets me apart is my energy, my ability to connect with people, and my determination. I genuinely love music and I love making people happy through it. No matter how many times I get knocked down, I’m going to keep getting back up and moving forward.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe luck has played a role in my journey, especially when it comes to meeting the right people at the right time. Some of the opportunities I’ve had came from simply being in the right place, staying open, and building genuine relationships.
But I also believe everything happens for a reason. Even the situations that felt like bad luck or setbacks taught me something and helped lead me to where I am today. I try not to look at things as purely good or bad luck. I believe every experience is part of the journey, and as long as I keep working, staying consistent, and not giving up, the right opportunities will come.
