Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Kuch.
Hi Sarah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Originally from Michigan and now proudly calling California home since 2019, my name is Sarah, a self-taught artist with a deep appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounds me. Since 2020, I have been sharing my artistic vision with the world through commissioned artwork that primarily reflects the serenity and magic of the beach as well as sweet, loving, four-legged friends.
My art is a celebration of the coastal lifestyle, characterized by vibrant colors, fluid lines, and a sense of movement that mirrors the ebb and flow of the ocean tide. Drawing inspiration from California, I aim to transport viewers to a place of peace and tranquility, where they can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with the beauty of nature.
I am proud to have showcased my artwork in various exhibitions and galleries, including a solo gallery show in 2023 that highlighted the beauty and tranquility of coastal living. Additionally, my art has been displayed in the City Hall of Santa Clarita, where it has garnered acclaim from residents and visitors alike. I am honored to have sold image rights to the city of Santa Clarita, further solidifying my connection to the community and its appreciation for the arts.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I initially began painting during the COVID-19 pandemic. I would say since most people were already on social media because they were made to stay home, I was able to get much of my artwork out into the world pretty quickly. I think the struggle that I run into now is that I’ve tapped out my market and excited to explore how to get my art out into places and in front of new faces. I’ve been fortunate to get into art shows such as the Beverly Hills art show and the Ventura art walk, but it still makes it difficult to sell my paintings. I’m excited that I just get to show my art to the community and network with like-minded individuals.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think what sets me apart from others is that my paintings are all acrylic artwork but because of how I blend the acrylic paint on the canvas it has the illusion of being an oil painting. I really just like how I blend the colors. It took a few comments for me to realize that is exactly what it looks like, oil paint, so now I strive to continue a similar style or at least stay in that realm where whimsical meets realism
