Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Giardinelli.
Hi Tony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Music is in my blood. A lot of my family are musicians, so it’s always felt like a natural affinity for me. I started playing guitar at 12 and began producing on Ableton at 16, teaching myself through YouTube. After high school, I attended Dubstop, an electronic music school in New York, where I learned mixing, mastering, sound design, and DJing. I’d played in bands my whole life, so when I set out to start a solo electronic project, I wanted it to feel like a live show which led me to mod a vintage orange Samsonite hardshell suitcase into a computer I perform behind.
Right now I’m making the most music of my life, and the highest quality… so far. I’m finishing up a 13-song album set for release next year, and going forward I plan to release unofficial remixes every two weeks. My goal is to set up a tour and land direct support slots with bigger artists whose style matches mine. I know there’s an audience out there waiting for me… it’s just a matter of getting in front of them.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I always knew I wanted to be a musician, even from a young age. Following your heart is one of the most fulfilling things you can do for yourself. But making a career out of your passion is a different story, and the music industry is known to be vicious. I take that seriously, and for a long time I’ve done everything myself. It’s only recently that I’ve started building a team to help me get to the next level. Treating my music as a business is difficult, and anyone who’s started a business knows it’s not always a smooth road. But it comes down to your vision and passion.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a producer, graphic designer, and I offer gear rentals and custom 3D print work. I run a recording studio called Pulse Room Studios, where I offer mixing, mastering, recording, and production services. I also teach music production, mixing, mastering, DJing, and guitar, and I take custom merch orders for 3D-printed keychains and necklaces.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I owe a lot to everyone who’s been following and supporting the music, but the person who deserves the most credit is my mom. She’s been my number one supporter in so many ways… always telling me that whatever I chose to do, I’d be amazing at it, and when music became that choice, she helped me go to school for it. She’s also the one who convinced me to name the project Anzio, after the place where I was born. I love you, Mom!
