Today we’d like to introduce you to DeRosay.
Hi DeRosay, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been singing in church since the age of 2. I never really took singing serious until 2/3 years after I graduated from College. I was always encouraged to do so but I wasn’t ready, I was nervous , scared, and just focused on other irrelevant things. It wasn’t until February of last year when I started performing and doing gigs in San Francisco. It has built my confidence, made me comfortable, now I’m able to sing and perform in front a small or big crowd! Consistency has brought me into rooms I would’ve never imagined. I just recently came back from NYFW (New York Fashion Week) I walked (Model) in 2 shows but I also went out there to sing, so me and my family found an open mic in Crown Heights Brooklyn. I sang in front of complete strangers and got the crowd involved singing my name. Last week I had a show inside of the Hollywood Roosevelt, in the CineGrill Theater. My family and friends, showed up and witnessed me perform outside of church, it was a great experience! I also act now, I’m in a mini tv series called “Soul” that’s out now on Tubi and I play the role Latoya (it was shot in LA) . A couple of days ago I was casted for a film titled, “Blessing In The Back.” The film takes place out here. So honestly I’m a Jill of all trades, I have so many other things I do as well, but right now, singing, modeling, and acting has been my main focus.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Struggling with self, emotions, and trauma. Losing myself, and finding myself throughout college. I stopped singing for a while because of the situation I was in, I wasn’t happy, depressed. I honestly was just surviving and getting by. I had no motivation, until I got out of that situation, and chose myself. Once I did that, everything that I lost including myself I gained back times 10. I stopped taking my life and the gifts and talents that God gave me for granted and started singing and putting myself out there. I started writing about my feelings and turning them into songs. I started putting myself out there and the consistency has brought me so far. I do gigs now with live musicians and I love it, I’ve never felt so alive and free.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is DeRosay! I’m a singer/ songwriter, Model, Actress, and etc. The etc is for all the other gifts God gifted me with, I draw realistic Portraits, I customize my Blazers that says, “Greatness Awaits DeRosay” on the back. It’s hand painted and altered as well. I’m a Jill of all trades, I learned how to do a lot of things growing up, I’ve never had idle time. I’m specialize in singing and I’m known for singing as well. I just got into Modeling last year and acting last year as well. I’m in a Tubi Movie named, “Soul.” I’m proud of the fact that I can put my mind to do anything I want to do. I believe in myself and I’m so determined to be great! I also think that sets me apart from others as well, I’m not the type to give up easily because things may not happen for me or go my way. I just find another route or go back in the lab and work on myself and my craft.
Any big plans?
My plans for the future is to perform at big venues out of the country, get signed as a model to a top agency in LA or New York. Model in Milan, Paris, etc! Get booked for a big paid campaign shoot, get casted to be an actress on a show on Netflix or a movie in theaters all around the world.
