Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Garcia.
Hi Crystal , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was in healthcare for almost 20 years as a Phlebotomist or lab tech assistant but my real passion was skin. I grew up watching my mom, sister, Dad and family be into skincare and an aunt that got me started on my very first skincare routine from Mary Kay. That’s when I was so intrigued about skin. It was always just a hobby but my interest kept growing until eventually I made the decision to go for it. So at 36 years old I went back to school to persue my passion. I wanted to do something that truly made me happy and I wanted to show my son that it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
So I would go to work to my regular 9-5 then rush to school and get home very late. I did that for a while until I was able to graduate from my class and be a Licensed Esthetician. Now I serve all types of clients from acne clients to anti aging regiments to creating all new skincare routines. I absolutely love it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not a smooth road.
I was having a very hard time at my 9-5 being sabotaged by a coworker.
She complained to my supervisor that I was going to school and would not pick up overtime anymore and she tried to get them to refuse me from going to school. Which they did. They had me jump thru hoops “proving” to them that i was unable to get my money back for my class and that I would have to start all over of they didn’t allow me to go back for my second semester. I almost lost the chance to go all because that one co worker didn’t want me leave work on time and wanted to me continue to work overtime to help her. It was an extremely stressful time. That caused so much stress on me that I actually started to loose my hair and my health took a turn for the worse during that time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am an esthetician based in Hollister California. I do custom facials that focuses on corrective treatments.
I work with acne clients and get them on a plan to correct their acne.
I work with aging skin and get them
On a plan to get their skin back on track.
I work with pigmentation, dehydration or just maintaining healthy skin. I help create a very custom skincare routine just for you. So I offer HydraFacials, facials, peels, Dermaplane, nano channeling and custom skincare routines. I work with some of the most innovative and science based products.
How do you think about happiness?
Happiness, to me, is seeing my clients smile and feel confident as they watch their skin improve. Knowing that I’ve been able to play a part in their skin health journey and help them feel good about themselves is incredibly rewarding.
Happiness is also seeing how proud my husband and son are of me. I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without them, or without the love and support of my family and friends. They’ve helped me every step of the way—from being my handymen when I need something done to being my biggest fans and cheering me on.
My husband is definitely my best hype man and promoter, lol, and my son has an incredible way of reminding me that I can do anything I set my mind to. Having their support while building something I’m so passionate about is one of the greatest feelings, and that, to me, is happiness.
