Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather.
Hi Heather, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My sisters and I started Three Sisters Events, after planning my sister, Courtney’s wedding and my wedding. We had long been doing events and assisting with other people’s weddings and overall just loved hospitality.
All three of us have very unique personalities and skills, and it seemed like it would fit a wedding planning business. I also just wanted something that would keep us together, in the ever-changing world of adulthood.
After many years of partnering together, and learning the ropes, we just celebrated 10 years in our business. We have a full team, we’ve done over 300 weddings and we love being a family owned, female owned, an LGBTQ owned wedding planning company.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anyone who tells you owning a business is easy is lying to you lol. It definitely has been challenging to work with all different kinds of clients at different venues with different budgets.
But truthfully, I would say the hardest part of wedding planning is learning emotional management and emotional intelligence. Being able to put aside your feelings, emotions, stress, and just focus on the work and your clients.
Also learning how to communicate with my sisters as a business owner versus just being their sister and knowing when is the right time to do each one has been a good lesson to learn.
We’ve been impressed with Three Sisters Events, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a full Service wedding planner, we really pride our ourselves on continuing to be budget friendly, and budget conscious in this current economy. We are always trying to meet our clients needs without sacrificing quality.
As a family owned and operated business, the most valuable thing that we offer is that familial quality to our clients. We’d like to think it feels like your big sister or your auntie is helping you plan your wedding.
We offer so many services as a one stop shop, with our own in-house decorative rentals and design team as well as my sister Courtney who is our in-house florist.
I’m proud that when people hear the name Three Sisters Events they think of high-quality, well executed and fun weddings and events!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Truly, I think the ability to work with all different kinds of personalities and not take anything personally in this job has been vital to me continuing to be successful.
I’m motivated by how I make people feel and how they are left hopefully as better people when they leave our space.
Every single person, regardless of age, race, background, sexual identity, ethnicity or economic position deserves to be seen and have the type of wedding and event that celebrates and honors them fully.
